Ahhh, sweet success!!
You know what it's like to set your mind on something, to picture your goal in your mind? As I embarked on creating an entry for the Walla Walla County Fair Parade, I hoped that out of the 3 places for Commercial entries, Home Loan Center might take home one of the ribbons. After much scrambling, decorating and finally arriving at the parade staging area, we could do nothing but wait. Now the decision of whether we deserved one of those coveted 3 ribbons was in the hands of the judges. We saw the judges come by, look over our entry and scribble on their clip boards and then continue on.
Now that there was nothing to do but wait, we actually had time to enjoy the completion of our entry and enjoy interacting with each other. As the time clicked past minute by minute, the start of the parade drew closer and closer and still no judges and no ribbon. Well, I thought, the fact that I completed the entry and that we would be represented in our community event was reward enough. I was proud to see the banners, the costumes, the rocking horses, the dollar signs, the logo and suddenly there were the judges. As they placed a 2nd place ribbon in Tim's hands, it was an incredibly fulfilling, sweet feeling. What a wonderful validation of our combined work to let the community know that we are proud of Home Loan Center and of what we do. Even without the ribbon, we have great pride in our work and who we are.
As I place our beautiful bright red 2nd place ribbon in our window along with some parade pictures, a smile will once again appear on my face. Whether we needed it or not, the recognition is greatly appreciated and the honor is not wasted on us. Thank you Walla Walla for the confidence you have in us, it only makes us shine brighter!!
