When we think we have nothing . . .

As I was contemplating Christmas and all that I would like to have and would like to give I sat and signed into Face book. A friend had posted a video explaining that when we thought that we really had nothing, that we should watch this video to see how little many people have.

The video was all about a very poor, poverty stricken area that indeed showed people with so little that even if I were as poor as a church mouse I would look impossibly wealthy in comparison.

One of the images that I think will stick with me forever was when they asked, "unhappy with your hair products, hair not shiny enough?" Then they showed this person with their head under a cow urinating and they were using the urine to clean themselves. They showed poor starving children, soda bottles squished to form a type of flip flop for shoes that were tied to the wearers foot.

Christmas is not about getting or having material belongings. Christmas is about being grateful and being willing to give. Some times you don't have money to give, but if you can give of your time to listen, help or offer assistance, it is worth so much more than anything material.

I wish you a Christmas with renewed strength to carry on, gratefulness of the many blessings that you have and much to look forward to in the future!!
